Sophie Zwartsenberg

I work as a post doc at Wageningen University with Pieter Zuidema, and I’m excited to be at Cornell for three months, visiting the Xu lab. I’m a tropical ecologist, interested in tree growth and physiology. Specifically, I work on how tropical canopy trees respond to fluctuations in weather, climate change and rising CO₂. I study this using tree rings, isotopes and modeling. I am currently working on developing a new module for ED2 in which we try to capture the mechanism of wood formation. I am from the Netherlands and in my free time I enjoy drawing, painting, cycling, kayaking, camping and last but not least, cuddling my cat!
